How to Update DiLink on BYD / Denza N9

DiLink updates usually come through OTA — Over-the-Air software updates. That means the car downloads and installs the update directly through Wi-Fi or its built-in connectivity, depending on your region and vehicle configuration.

For Denza N9, the exact menu wording may be slightly different depending on the software version, but the path is usually similar to BYD models:

Settings → System → Version → Upgrade / Software Update

1. Prepare the car before updating

Before starting the DiLink update:

  1. Park the car in a safe place.

  2. Keep the car in P / Park.

  3. Connect the car to a strong Wi-Fi network.

  4. Make sure the battery is above 20%.

  5. Do not keep the car plugged into a charger during the installation.

  6. Do not drive the car during the update.

  7. Do not press random buttons, restart the screen, or use the infotainment while the update is running.

This part is important because the infotainment system may restart several times during the update.

2. Check for the update from the screen

On the Denza N9 screen:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Go to System.

  3. Open Version or About Vehicle.

  4. Tap Upgrade, Software Update, or Check for Updates.

  5. If an update appears, read the notes.

  6. Tap Download.

  7. After download finishes, tap Install.

  8. Wait until the update completes.

  9. Let the screen restart by itself.

  10. After the restart, go back to System → Version and confirm the new version number.

3. If the update does not appear

If the DiLink update is not showing, it does not always mean your car is outdated. BYD/Denza updates are often released by:

  • Country / region.

  • VIN number.

  • Model year.

  • Software branch.

  • Dealer activation.

  • SIM / network configuration.

So two Denza N9 cars may not receive the update on the same day.

Try this:

  1. Connect to a different Wi-Fi network.

  2. Restart the infotainment screen.

  3. Check again later.

  4. Make sure the car has internet access.

  5. Check whether the Denza / BYD app shows an available update.

4. Manual update through dealer

If OTA does not work, the safest option is:

Book service appointment → Ask for DiLink / OTA update check → Dealer updates the car

Tell them:

“Please check whether my Denza N9 has the latest DiLink / infotainment software update available for my VIN. The OTA update is not appearing on my screen.”

This is much safer than downloading random firmware files from Telegram or forums. Wrong firmware can break the infotainment system, disable features, or create region issues.

5. Do not use random firmware files

I really wouldn’t recommend manual firmware flashing unless it comes directly from Denza/BYD or the official dealer.

Avoid:

  • Random DiLink update files.

  • Firmware from another model.

  • Firmware from another country.

  • Chinese firmware on export cars unless confirmed compatible.

  • USB update packages from unknown Telegram groups.

  • “Unlock” or “jailbreak” packages that modify system files.

DiLink is connected to vehicle functions, cameras, climate, navigation, accounts, and sometimes ADAS-related menus, so a bad update can cause more than just a screen problem.
